Made for the 2022 Pewter Live Competition themed on freedom, the glasses were made as a celebration of expression and the freedom we have to watch the world around us in clarity. Star gazing is very special to me, and I wouldn't be able to do it without glasses. The space theme extends across the top of the frames in starry embossed pewter accents and cast pewter weights. The frames are CNC cut from wood on the back before being cut and sanded at the front to finish. The frames are held by sterling silver chain with weights at the end. This means the user can hang them over the ears in a comfortable way without the restrictions of arm length. The weights keep the glasses in place, even when looking down, and the length of the bottom frame chains can be adjusted to suit the tilt of the frames wanted. The glasses were on display in May 2022 at the Pewterers' Hall in London before being moved to the Silver Gallery in the V&A through June and July.
